Xuan Paper Culture Park
Xuan Paper Culture Park
Overview
Jingxian county in Anhui province, known as the hometown of Xuan paper, is home to the traditional craft of Xuan paper making, which was recognized by the State Council as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2006. The Xuan Paper Culture Park consists of eight sections, including the "Ancient Xuan Paper Workshop," the "Four Treasures of the Study Experience Zone" — which features Xuan paper, brushes, ink, and ink slabs — and the Xuan Paper Exhibition Hall. The park covers an area of nearly 40,000 square meters. Visitors to the park can not only observe the ancient Xuan paper-making techniques passed down over a thousand years but also gain hands-on experience of the craft.
Cultural Significance
The theme of the Xuan Paper Culture Park is to "explore the cultural connotation of Xuan paper, inherit the techniques of Xuan paper production, promote traditional Xuan paper culture, and showcase the artistic charm of Xuan paper." The park is carefully planned and thoughtfully constructed. Since its opening to the public on October 1, 2007, it has attracted visitors from all over, becoming an important window for the display of Xuan paper techniques and the external promotion of Jingxian county.
